YURTS

Yurts provide an option for shelter that is versatile, beautiful, and gentle on the earth. The yurt design reflects simplicity and harmony with its surroundings. There is something about the circle that provides us a "glimpse into the wholeness, unity, and divine order of the universe," says mathematical philosopher Michael Schneider. The circle symbolizes the unity of all things, and reminds us of our connectedness with each other and to the whole.

In designing our palapa-yurts, we made the effort to create structures that first of all, would require minimal impact on the environment; second, would allow guests to connect with the natural surroundings, while offering comfort and luxury; and finally, would echo the spirit of the local inhabitants that lived in the area for centuries. These people lived in harmony with Mother Nature and built their homes of wood, grasses and all organic materials they found on site.

Our yurts combine the ancient wisdom of Mongolian nomads and the Maya people of Yucatan; the result is our unique hybrid structure - the palapa-yurt. You will not experience this type of lodging on vacation anywhere else.
