YOUTH PROGRAMS

In Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy's thoughtful collection of essays, Earth as Lover, Earth as Self, she states, "Development is not imitating the West... It is not selling your soul for unnecessary consumer items or schemes to get rich quick. Development is waking up - waking up to our true wealth and true potential as persons and as a society." This idea guides the curriculum development of the summer youth courses at Mayab Center. We wish to offer youth opportunities to consider their role in the global community by making the world their classroom. We hope to help students discover their own place in creating the world of tomorrow.
